Academic Use
OMNEST™ is the commercial version of the OMNeT++ simulation framework, which is one of the most popular simulators at universities worldwide. OMNeT++ is used as a research and teaching tool, and there are many OMNeT++-based open-source simulation models and model frameworks released by various groups. OMNeT++ has its own website at www.omnetpp.org.
OMNeT++ is free for non-commercial activities and is released under the Academic Public License.
Do I qualify as a non-commercial user?
If you are a student or university lecturer and OMNeT++ is used in teaching, then it qualifies as non-commercial activity. If you are conducting research with OMNEST™/OMNeT++ (whether at a university, research institute, or company), the deciding factor is whether the results will be publicly available (i.e., published in a journal or presented at a public conference), or used in the creation of a commercial product. For a more detailed description, please check the Licensing FAQ. We reserve the right to make the final judgment on this issue in any specific case.
